2019 Nissan Altima: All-new Engine and Drivetrain

It’s finally here: the all-new 2019 Nissan Altima. Making its world debut at the 2018 New York International Auto Show, this sixth generation Altima is completely overhauled. The already popular Altima sedan promises performance and technology, along with style and driving dynamics. Nissan’s sold over 5.6 million Altima units over the past 25 years, and this latest iteration of the sedan promises to keep that trend going.

In terms of design, the 2019 Nissan Altima sports the company’s Vmotion 2.0 concept look, which means up front sits a bold chrome-lined grille, with angular headlights and a muscular front bumper and hood. A muscular shoulder-line and signature floating roofline draw your eye back to the rear where you’ll spot a stylish, subtle decklid spoiler and dual exhaust pipes. The 2019 Nissan Altima is available with 19” wheels, as well.

Inside, the 2019 Nissan Altima designers and engineers definitely aimed to create a space that’s both a practical and comfortable place for driver and passengers alike. There are updated Zero Gravity seats, as well as a much simpler and modern-looking centre stack. NissanConnect comes standard across the board and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, all available and accessible on an 8” colour touchscreen.

But Nissan didn’t just make a new Altima that’s nice to look at and sit in. No, they also decided to spice things up a bit and offer two new features for the first time on their sedan.

For the first time, the 2019 Nissan Altima will be offered with an available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system on all five trim levels (S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum). Equip your 2019 Nissan Altima with the updated 2.5L and you’ll be able to also specify AWD. At the moment, AWD can only be paired with one engine choice. Expect that to change in the future.

There are two engine choices for the 2019 Nissan Altima. Along with the revamped and improved 2.5L, the previous generation’s 3.5L V6 is now being replaced with an entirely new engine. This particular engine isn’t just new to Nissan, but new to the entire automotive world: a 2.0L VC-Turbo. You’ll need to choose a FWD Altima to check out this engine’s capabilities, but that’s set to change too. This variable compression turbocharged inline 4-cylinder delivers the performance of a V6 with the fuel efficiency of a 4-cylinder mill.

Even though the 2019 Nissan Altima won’t make it to dealers till fall of this year, you can still head down to your local Morrey Nissan Burnaby dealer to speak to one of our experts about all the 2019 Altima has to offer. Plus, you’ll be properly prepared tor the test drive later on in the year.
