Nissan unveils its Ambition 2030 green plan and four electric vehicle concepts
December 06 2021,
Nissan presented four 100% electric concepts including a model that could replace the Nissan LEAF soon. Nissan also announced the main lines of its green Nissan Ambition 2023 plan, its electric strategy for the coming years.
Of the four concepts presented, a truck, a convertible performance car, a minivan and a small SUV, it is the latter that comes closest to production. It’s the Nissan Chill-Out concept which promises to offer versatility, performance and range at the same time.
The Nissan Ambition 2030 plan
Nissan is already recognized as one of the most important manufacturers in the field of electrification since the introduction of the first electric car in North America, the Nissan LEAF nearly 10 years ago. Nissan will soon present the Nissan ARIYA SUV, its new generation of battery-powered vehicles. However, this is only the beginning for Nissan, which intends to produce 23 electrified vehicles by 2030, of which 15 will be 100% electric. These are the main lines of the Ambition 2030 project presented this week by Nissan.
In addition, Nissan plans to focus on producing solid-state batteries that could hit the market by 2028. These optimized batteries also have the added benefit of lowering the cost of producing electric vehicles.
Nissan Chill-Out Concept
The Nissan Chill-Out Concept is a small SUV that could well serve as a replacement for the Nissan LEAF. Nissan has given very few details on the model, saying only that it will seat four people and that it will be built on the same CMF-EV platform for EVs as other Nissan electric vehicles.
Nissan also presented three other concepts:
- Nissan Max-Out: a performance convertible electric car
- Nissan Surf-Out: an electric van with a transparent grille in the front
- Nissan Hang-Out: a minivan intended for adventure with a large modular cabin
